Bernard Gilpin was an Anglican preacher of the 16th century who was arrested for preaching the gospel. He was being taken on horseback to London for his trial, and he kept remarking, “EVERYTHING IS FOR THE BEST”. His captors made fun of these remarks. On the way he fell from his horse and broke his leg. This made his captors especially merry. But Gilpin quietly remarked, “I have no doubt but that even this painful accident will prove to be a blessing.” He was delayed because of the injury and arrived in London some days later than expected.
When they reached the prison, they heard the bells ringing merrily in the city. They asked the reason and were told, “Queen Mary is dead, and there will no more burning of Protestants!”.
“Ah!”, said Gilpin. “you see it is all for the best.”

Romans 8:28 declares, “We know that in all things God works for good with those who love him, those whom he has called according to his purpose” (GNB)
APPLICATION: To make things work for your good, you must LOVE God. God has a divine purpose for those who love Him.
